Alright here is the first REAL anime that I bought on DVD. i think it's hilarious and the chracters are something Icould see in real life.

Martian Successor Nadesico (or Kidoseiken Nadeshiko, which translates roughly to Mobile Battleship Nadesico) is a story about two cultures at war, a corporation with its secret agenda, and a ship full of dysfunctional individuals. The plot focuses on one man, Akito Tenkawa, and his adventure with
the United Forces military and the Jovian Lizards, as well as his personal (mis)adventures with the guys and (mainly) gals onboard Nadesico.

Like your typical space si-fi comedy, there's plenty of mecha action involving big energy blasts and trans-dimensional travels in Nadesico. With a bridge full of anime babes, from a first glance it seems like a silly and unoriginal attempt at comedy. However as the plot unfolds, there is a treuly intricate and complicated story with a very entangled web of back stories that connects the conflicts together into epic proportions. There are plenty of subtle inline themes within the episodes that provoke the mind of the thoughtful
audience while give the comedic bunch a laugh of their life. The cunning satire really runs well in Nadesico when there's an anime series within it. Gekiganger III, an anime TV series all by itself, is a part of Nadesico and the interaction of this show with the people of Nadesico is truely amusing.

Nadesico was originally created by Kia Asamiya, and named Meteor Schlachtschiff Nadesico. It was released on comic book format. It was co-released with the debut of the animated version in 1996. It is also currently avaliable for purchase, translated in English, in the North America.
